Getting Porcelain Veneers

01

Come in for a Consultation and Smile Preview

You’ll visit our South Surrey dental clinic for a digital scan and exam. Dr. Chohan will talk with you about your concerns and goals and assess your teeth and gums. Then, she’ll use computer software to design porcelain veneers based on your mouth and facial features. You’ll get to see a preview of what your smile could look like before starting treatment.

02

Try Out Your Veneers

Dr. Chohan will gently remove a thin, surface layer of enamel. This ensures the veneers will fit comfortably. Then, she’ll bond temporary veneers to your teeth. 03

Have Permanent Restorations Made

Your permanent porcelain veneers will be custom-crafted according to Dr. Chohan’s design. They’ll also be hand-glazed with the goal of mimicking the detail and translucency of natural enamel.

04

Get Your Veneers Placed

Dr. Chohan will take off your temporary veneers and make any final adjustments. Next, she’ll bond your permanent veneers to your teeth. After she shapes and polishes them, it’s time for the big reveal of your upgraded smile.

05

Reveal and Maintain Your New Smile

When you take out your last set of Invisalign aligners, we’ll help you celebrate! In order to prevent your teeth from shifting, we’ll create custom clear retainers for you to wear. Wearing retainers will help your results last a lifetime.

Does getting veneers hurt?

Getting porcelain veneers doesn’t hurt. Dr. Chohan only removes a very thin, surface layer of enamel to fit the veneers, and you’ll be numb while she does it.

Are veneers different from crowns?

While porcelain veneers and dental crowns can both be used to improve the appearance of your teeth, they’re not the same. Porcelain veneers are only about 1mm thick and cover the front of your teeth. Dental crowns are about 2mm thick and cover the whole tooth to the gumline.

Porcelain veneers are less invasive than dental crowns because only a tiny bit of enamel has to be removed. If a tooth has a large filling, decay or damage it may not be able to support a veneer, which is why veneers are usually only used on healthy teeth with cosmetic imperfections. A dental crown, on the other hand, can be used to restore teeth that are missing a lot of structure.
